Beasts and Beasts of the Same
I took my bears to barren fields
to watch them starve,
and found myself unable to eat.
I learned my beasts died with me,
and they lived as sure as I did.
They taught me the perfect ache
of their claws on my back,
and how to keep my fists above the waist.
Until they knew it could no longer be
of us existing, but of us
surviving till there were none.
