What We Publish
We want the dangerous. The uncaged. The brutally honest that cuts through tendon and singes flesh. The ashes on your fingertips, the caverns between your cavities, the kneecaps bruised with jasmine tea. We want stale grief, outgrown sandals, lipstick stains on your brother's bedpost. We want last words scratched along cheeks, promises kept in skylines. Give us words about to break, bloated and heavy with something bitter. We don't need the pretty or the delicate. Go ahead, haunt us.
Don't forget to check out a past issue (they're free!) to get a better sense of what we're looking for, and see what works we enjoy publishing.

"No Censorship": A note on our policy
One of the goals of the Glass Kite Anthology is to publish works without censorship. This means we will not turn away any literary works or visual art submissions based purely on content that may be deemed "inappropriate" by some. This may include profanity, sexual content, or even controversial topics, etc. As artists, we understand that freedom of expression is crucial to creating art that means something. Please note, however, that literary and artistic merit comes first. These things must contribute to the overall quality of the work; in short, it should add to the work and be there for a reason, just like any other literary or artistic device that artists use. Submissions with an overabundance of the above "censor triggers" that do not contribute to the overall tone and quality of the piece are not following this rule for its intended purpose. The goal of our no-censorship policy is to allow artists to freely express themselves, without the fear of their work being turned away. Having said that, we will not publish any works that are racist, queerphobic, misogynistic, transphobic, etc.
Author Rights
We ask for First North American Rights to publish, as well as the permission to permanently archive works online, and credit the Glass Kite Anthology as your work's first appearance in a publication. Following publication, all rights revert back to the contributor.

Who We PublishWe accept submissions from writers and artists of all ages, and from anywhere in the world. However, we do request that all submissions be primarily written in english (works with some words in a different language are acceptable, as long as the content is predominately in English).
If you are a young writer (currently enrolled in middle or high school), we also have another exciting opportunity for you: GKA's Summer Writing Studio! More information here.
